Mr. Melton:
I would like to take a moment to let you know how much I enjoyed your class. I did not realize how much is involved I the Landman business and you made it concise and easy to understand. Not that it was an easy week but I believe you gave me the vital tools to enter into the oil and gas business. I happened to be at the courthouse today and ran into a friend that is a Landman. I told her what all I had learned in your class and she was amazed I could carry on a conversation with her in her own business that she has been in for 15 years. She actually does not know how to do the interest calculations, operating revenue and costs that I had been taught in 4 days.
I was as happy to get your certificate of completion after 4 days as I was to get my diploma from OU after 4 years. I am amazed at how much I understand after your class. After I got home and decompressed I realized how much I had really learned. But it is all coming together.
You are a great instructor.
Thank You Again

Hi Dave,
I just got back from the Curative Class in Midland. Thought it was great and I felt it was a productive use of my time. To me the measure of the usefulness of these types of classes is if the information can be translated in to productivity. I felt that the information and insights gained will be immediately useful to me on my next assignment as a landman and I can see where I could have utilized this information on past projects.

I wanted to drop you a line of thanks. The week following your class in Dallas I was able to secure a Landman job in Cuero, TX by the following Wednesday. I attribute this to the knowledge I gained from your four day course which gave me the confidence in my interview.
Now, I have been working for over a week in an office of over 50 Landmen. What I have heard is that there is a shortage of Landmen that can truly call themselves a Landman. I would say 60% of the people I am working with have very little experience, some are new like me. However with that said, the crew has been most helpful in getting me going.
So again keep up the good work and please use this letter in your class to maybe give the newbies some hope if you like.

I attended your Dallas class last month and by the way, that program is great. It has already made me a hero in the office for plotting all of our leases and blowing them up to 3ft maps. They liked it so much, I have been given the project of plotting all wells, flow lines and all facilities associated with every lease. So I will definitely be needing a good GPS for that. Thanks again for recommending that software.

I am happy to say that I am a graduate of the Dave Melton Landman school, what a great program you guys put on! I have material coming out of my pores still today. This class was so informative and touched on so many subjects that I am thrilled to have taken the time out of my busy schedule to attend. Also your instructor Phillip Baldwin was a fantastic teacher and offered practical knowledge as well as legal information related to the topics. I think I will be less app to get in trouble and will make a far better Landman as a result of his instruction.
YOU GUYS ROCK!! Thanks for everything and I will be looking for new classes coming up.

I just wanted to thank you for the fantastic week I just had at the Petroleum Landman School. This was the best investment in myself that I have ever made. I was blown away with how much I was able to learn in four days of class. And continue to learn more and more each day. I was very impressed with the amount of knowledge that you have about the entire oil and gas industry. It really helps in understanding the landman's role when you get to see the entire picture of the oil business. I had a great time and have made new friendships that will last for the rest of my life.
I have worked in construction most of my life and job prospects are at an all time low, after leaving your class I came out with a new lease on life and I have never been so excited about how bright my future is and all the outstanding opportunities I now have.
I just want you to know how great an impact you have made on me and how much I truly appreciate it.
Sincerely

I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed your class! It was a real treat to learn something that I found very interesting and taught in a format that made it fun to learn. I got so much more out of it knowing that you have been in the business for so many years and not just a teacher sitting behind a desk! You know what they say about those who can do, and those who can't- teach. Well, that's what made your class so interesting. You have the real working knowledge and wisdom to back up what you teach. I appreciate your commitment to passing on that knowledge.
Sincerely,
Sherlyn Parham
I would like to let you know that I interviewed with a company yesterday, and they offered me a position. At first they seemed to blow me off until I showed them the material we covered in your class. They were impressed with my knowledge and immediately offered the position to me. I will be making about $40,000 more than I did last year - not bad huh? So I would like to thank you for your school. I am now financially stable, and I can only be more successful in the future. I owe a lot of my success to your school and your advice. (I decided to swing by the company and talk to the HR department. and it worked!)

Although we have been around the oil industry for many years we decided to take the Petroleum Landman class as a refresher. Don & I have done title search for mineral owners for almost 10 years and I worked with Petroleum Engineers for another 10 years, plus my Father retired from Sinclair Oil Company. I must say we were quite impressed with the class, with your knowledge and learned so much more than we thought we would. It was very helpful and informative and we highly recommend the class to anyone, whether a new landman, or a "seasoned" one. They will be amazed how much it will help them. The class should be a requirement for any new person in the business.
Thanks for the experience,
Don and Rosalie Chavis
Dear Mr. Melton,
I wanted to take this time to thank you for the opportunity to attend the Petroleum Landman School Training Class.
As an owner of a mortgage company and dealing with surveys, title-work, land descriptions I felt that I would already know a lot of the principals in working as a landman. One of the most important things that I learned was how much I didn’t know. The class was very informative and gave me a great base of knowledge to start with. The time, patients and detail that was given in the class very was impressive. After the class was completed and I got a chance to review all of the information that was covered and I couldn’t believe we covered this much information in such a short period of time.
Once I received my certification I was able to start work as a landman within two weeks. The class has given me a strong foundation of information that I’ve been able keep and review when needed. I would have to say that a person without these basic fundamentals would be less effective in this position. The class tuition is an investment well spent. This is looking to be a great career with a great future. So thanks again for making this opportunity available to me.
Sincerely,
Tim Mahoney
I had been working as a hair stylist for the last 14 years, when I decided to participate in David Melton's class on Petroleum Landman Training. I was burnt out and looking for another line of work with consistent income. I had worked for an oil company more than 20 years ago; so, I was somewhat familiar with several aspects of this industry. This course was beneficial in refreshing my memory and even expanding my knowledge and understanding further because of its thoroughness. Without this training, I would have been completely unprepared and confused the first time I went to a county courthouse to research minerals. David Melton is an extremely knowledgeable instructor with years of experience in the oil and gas industry. His class was very informative and provided me with a solid foundation of working knowledge that will guide me through my new career as a Petroleum Landman. I highly recommend this class to anyone interested in becoming a landman.

The Petroleum Landman School not only gave me a complete overview of today's oil & gas industry, it also laid a solid educational foundation from which I draw on daily in my role as a landman. The class allows one to gain the knowledge required to compete in this business while at the same time building the framework for continual success. I would encourage all who either are just starting in this business or looking to further their skills to enroll in this class.

Before taking Dave’s Landman class I knew very little about the oil industry and determination of mineral ownership. .
Having worked in the mortgage industry, I knew that “title” would have to be ordered from the abstract company before closing a loan. But, all I knew about title was that it showed who owned the property.
By taking Dave’s class, not only did I acquire a working knowledge of how to determine mineral ownership but I understood why title work is the foundation of the business relationship between the mineral owner and the petroleum company.
Without Dave’s class I would not have lasted 5 seconds in this industry. By taking the class, I have opened up a career path for years to come.
Thanks Dave!
